西北师范大学（简称西北师大，Northwest Normal University），于1902年始建，位于甘肃省兰州市，是甘肃省人民政府和教育部共建的重点大学，入选国家中西部高校基础能力建设工程、为国家重点支持的西部地区十四所大学之一。其原名西北师范学院，1988年更名为西北师范大学。

西北师范大学前身之一为国立北平师范大学，发端于京师大学堂师范馆，1912年改为“国立北京高等师范学校”，1923年改为“国立北平师范大学”。1937年“七七”事变后，国立北平师范大学与同时西迁的国立北平大学、北洋工学院共同组成西北联合大学，国立北平师范大学整体改组为西北联合大学下设的教育学院，后改为师范学院。1939年西北联合大学师范学院独立设置，改称国立西北师范学院，1941年迁往兰州。抗日战争胜利后，国立西北师范学院继续在兰州办学。同时，恢复北平师范大学（现北京师范大学）。1958年划归甘肃省领导，改称甘肃师范大学。1981年复名为西北师范学院。由北京师范大学对口支援西北师范大学。

Northwest Normal University (Northwest Normal University), founded in 1902, is located in Lanzhou, Gansu Province. It is a key University jointly built by the People's Government of Gansu Province and the Ministry of Education. It is one of the fourteen universities in the western region supported by the state in the National Foundation Ability Construction Project for Higher Education in Central and Western China. Formerly known as Northwest Normal University, it was renamed Northwest Normal University in 1988.

Northwest Normal University (NNU), one of its predecessors, was founded in the Normal Hall of the Capital Normal University. It was renamed National Beijing Higher Normal School in 1912 and National Beiping Normal University in 1923. After the "July 7th Incident" in 1937, National Beiping Normal University, National Beiping University and Beiyang Institute of Technology, which moved to the west at the same time, jointly formed Northwest Associated University. National Beiping Normal University was restructured into the College of Education under Northwest Associated University and later renamed Normal College. 1939 The Normal College of Northwest United University was independently established and renamed National Northwest Normal College. In 1941, it was moved to Lanzhou. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the National Northwest Normal College continued to run schools in Lanzhou. At the same time, Peking Normal University (now Beijing Normal University) will be restored. In 1958, it was put under the leadership of Gansu Province and renamed Gansu Normal University. 1981 It was renamed Northwest Normal College. Northwest Normal University is supported by Beijing Normal University.
